1965 F100 on Craigslist (Colorado)

Post by born4ford »

I saw this '65 on Craigslist (http://westslope.craigslist.org/cto/5112716342.html) and then happened to go to a garage sale at the house where it was for sale. Got to look it all over, pretty nice truck. The bed seems to be from a '64 and there are a few other incorrect things about it but it shows nicely. What do you guys think about the price? Seems like shooting for the moon to me.

4X4's used that style of box. It does seem a little pricey. All that work done to it & still has the single pot master cylinder.

I noticed that single pot, too. Funny. I guess paint sells. The owners said they drove this truck out from Washington. That might make me give it a closer check for rot if I were interested.

I'm curious, Brian, what don't you care for on this truck? :dontknow:

For me, the first would be the single pot brake master cylinder.
Secondly, I'd want to have the correct 4WD 45" opening front fenders, giving more clearance for the larger front tires than those 36" 2WD fenders.
It appears to have a 2WD steering wheel, three spoke rather than the 4-spoke wheel, but that wouldn't be a big deal to me.

Yeah, I guess I also prefer the ''65/'66 bed' over the 'correct wrong bed' that it has......

single pot is not a big deal, as long as its properly mantained
dont care for the dash hacking for the radio or speakers in the doors
also i like the stock wheels and covers rathe than aluminium

Ahh... good points, Brian. Thanks for sharing!

Yeah, I didn't catch the dash hacking.... I also agree - not cool.

I also agree regarding the single pot brake master cylinder.....IF a fella keeps up on the condition of all the brake lines and wheel cylinders, a fella shouldn't have any brake issues. Because I tend to tow trailers (some without trailer brakes) and haul heavy loads with my '65 F250, the job to install a two-pot brake master cylinder didn't seem like that big of a deal and made good sense to me.

I have no issues with the wheels...... sure, a step away from the OEM look, but I think they look comfortable & at home on it.

i just dont like having to clean and polish wheels all the time and if you dont they look like a 50 year old alternator.

having a double mc is a good thing on a 4x4, though i doubt that one spends much time working in the woods or playing on big hills.

guess if im going to spend a large chunk of bennys i can be as picky as i want and anything upwards of $7500 better be close to showroom or factory as possible.
