Place to hang your hat! Is there linkage to something? Could it be from a PTO?

????? In combination with his "4 forward, 4 reverse statement, I don't know, that would be a strange splitter! For 9 bills, one could almost get their money back from wheels and tires, let alone whatever that "splitter" is.

seeing it`s a 350, maybe it`s a PTO for a tipper body on a grain truck or something like that...

I'm wondering how well that little electric fuel pump works being mounted that far from the tank. Those pumps usually develop 7-8 lbs., but that location may act to restrict it down to the original normal pressure. Also, does the front track width look narrow to any one but me?

I was originally thinking OD as well, but it looks kind of short, like it would be difficult to reach. So based on that I am guessing PTO?

I saw a Willys 4x4 at a car show last week with 5 shifters. I had to ask the owner....manual transmission, OD, PTO, 4WD, and High/Low range. That's a lot of shifters.

Paul, noticed the narrow track too. I had gone back 2 or 3 times to see if I missed something. idk.
I would guess over/under of some type perhaps as to the location. look at the large rearward 'normal' shifter, looks to have been moved back- same tower as any of our 4 speeds- :2cents:

yep, old rr truck. the shifter is for a reverser, it gives you forward or reverse in every gear. if you gotta' back up 10 miles it's a handy feature, no turning around on rr tracks.

I think you got it! I would expect that feature to be of little value for non-railroad use. I've taken a ride in an old Buick with a slush box which would run as fast as anyone might want to go in reverse; it's not for the faint-hearted! Combined with narrowed track; I don't think I'm that crazy yet! Still think it would be a decent buy for parts or as a yard truck, just the usual matter of distance!

that explains the sellers comment then

a backwards ride in 4th gear in a slick on a rr track
has to be fun. it just does

The hitch is also worth something. Looks like a good deal for sure.
