64 spring shackles

Post by Fulcircle64 »

What other years shackles can be used on a 64? I'm having a hard time finding new shackles for my 64 since the last guy to own it decided to install longer springs and bend to fit I don't trust the shackles being any good.

are you asking about front or rear shackles

and the length of the springs really cant do anything to them , all of the strain would be on the bolts or pins holding the springs on, if those are not bent at all i see no problem with re-use

The rear shackles seams like fronts are pretty easy to find

Guess I should also explain they used a torch on the springs to bend the springs so not sure how much torque has been put on the shackles

still saying as long as nothing is deformed, no cracks, egg shaped holes i would not be worried
people re arch springs all the time

i did change my rears i just found another 250 with the same width springs,as that matters rather than year which i think is into the late 70s
the originals had egg holes. was nothing wong with the spring eye bushing, not sure if i used the same bolt or took them from the parts truck
