262 I6 water pump SOS

Post by 64shortbed »

Has anyone still running their 262 had their water pump rebuilt or replaced lately? Mine has begun leaking and the only lead I can find is a discontinued rebuild from MAC's. Any help you can offer will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Thank you very much, ICEMAN6166! I ordered one tonight. There is a shop in AZ that may have a rebuild kit for the pump, so I'm going to call them this week to check on that. It would be nice to have an extra around.

It's been a while since I have been active (for me) on this site, but I have enjoyed stopping by now and then. I'm resurrecting this old thread to report on my experience locating a water pump for my 262. In short, I found a shop in Oregon that seemed to have a good reputation rebuilding water pumps in vehicles worth many times more than mine (not sure if I'm allowed to share the name) for what seemed like a reasonable price to me. My overhauled pump has been on the truck for about 9 months to a year with no issues. I tried off and on for several years to locate a new or rebuilt pump, but to no avail.
Currently keeping an eye out for another core to have rebuilt and ready for a spare. Hope this helps someone.
