What gear lube should I use in a 1965 f250 2wd?

I believe the manual calls for straight 50w engine oil. I know I used 80-90w gear oil and have had good results with my np435.

I'd say not what the manual say's!, I've been told to use synthetic oil ..
Honey, If I say I`ll fix something I will, there`s no need to remind me every 6 months!!
