Replacing gas tank filler hose

Post by "Whitey Ford" »

I want to change out the hose for the filler tube to the tank and the grommet for the gas cap. Is this as easy as undoing the hose clamps and sliding it out the hole? Just want to make sure its easy so i can go cruise this weekend. Dont think its leaking but I constantly change parts that can help me not have issues when i least expect it.

Thats' about it... count on using a big set of channel locks to spin the rubber hose a little at first after removing hose clamps, the rubber hose tends to glue itself on

its just that simple..... but you might have to cut the old hose off of the tubes if they have been on for a long time. good luck and happy cruisin'. Jeff

When you take it off
Some spray lubricant, like wd40 will help...
If you can lift up a section & squirt it under there
Work it around... Defiantly helps slide it off
This tip works good on radiator & heaters hoses too

As everyone says it is that easy. You will need to twist or cut the old one off. As far as the new one goes. Mine was a bugger to get slipped over the tank inlet and to get the filler neck in. I finally boiled some water and put the hose in the hot water for a minute and everything slipped right in and on. Two things to remember. Don't forget the clamps and use gloves with the hot hose.
