Best place to buy a windshield?

The place to talk Slicks. All we ask is that discussion has something to do with slicks...

Best place to buy a windshield?

Post by jecsd1 »

I'm finally at the point where I can install the glass I my uni. I have all the old glass except a windshield.

What do you all recommend as far as sourcing the glass. Is having one shipped just asking for trouble?

Local glass shop?

Mail order?

I've never bought just the glass before. Any opinions?

Thanks

I got mine from Deep Ellum auto glass. They are in Dallas and they do ship. I paid $110 for my windshield.

I got mine at a glass shop here in town. They had 10 in stock. Tinted and shaded glass and install was 150. I asked them why they had so many in stock and I was told it was very common to install or ship out 2 a month. There are a lot of slicks still running around Montana as daily drivers.

I've always found decent used ones. If you do check local shops make sure you call around. I had quotes that ranges from around $150 to over $300 when I replaced the windshield on my daily driver. Also check you insurance policy. It may be covered.

Excellent service and quality from Deep Ellum at very inexpensive pricing. They will ship; they also have a presence at many Texas swap meets, including the up-coming mother of them all, Pate. In the past they have offered free installation at the swap meets.
