I was buying stuff for the ununi on dennis carpenter, when I saw a picture of a turn signal switch for a 73-79. It looks to be fairly similar to the one I have in there now, but with a hazard light function. Would it be possible to use this one on my truck if I file a notch for the flasher knob, or is it way way different?

Re: turn signal switch question
probably could use a 73 collar, from before the put the key in the column
also you can install a 61-66 flasher, light and switch very easily plugs right into your wire harness look in the junkyard or parts wanted lots of trucks have them

Re: turn signal switch question
My intent would be to mod the existing collar for the later switch. I already have a flasher in dash. If it would work it would give us a broader option as far as finding turn signal switches, and gain hazard lights in the process without adding any extra wiring. I might buy one just to " take one for the team" and find out if it works. We might have a new "hints and tricks" item.

Re: turn signal switch question
Actually, it does add extra wiring, but it is easy to tie into a hazard flasher. I have a '77 column in one and an '81 in another. Both turn signal switches appear to be usable with the later slick column. The early slicks shared the switch and operating mechanism with the early Falcons, Comets, and reputedly, some Fairlanes. So when replacing those switches, etc. shop the Falcon suppliers for comparison pricing.

You probably will not get away with only filing a notch.

Re: turn signal switch question
Charlie, I just read your post on the collar swap, great write up.
Did you use the one marked:
C0df-3511-aw?
I have three collars I would be willing to swap if anyone needs one of them:
C3DA-3511-DW
C4ZA-3511-AW
C5DA-3511-BW
Thanks
John

Re: turn signal switch question
I pulled the one I used as a set from a truck in a junk yard. Since it is '73-'77, it should have a number starting with D. In one picture, it looks like D4T something.
