New Member Introduction

Post by MNTBUGGY »

I have been looking around for while and finally signed up. I have a couple of projects in work a 1966 F100 4x4 SWB and a 1961 F100 unibody SWB.

The 66 was going pretty good until I found a project car for my wife. So it got bumped to the back of the building!!! As it was brought home

Image

Got to work on the cab. New floors / mounts / supports and cab corners

Image

Putting discs on the front

Image

Enlarging the front fender opening for tall tires

Image

Here is a current pic of it. I decided to go with a skinny tall tire instead of the 35 x 12.5 x 15's that were on it. The front ones stuck out to far past the fender for me

Image

The mustang is currently in paint Jail!!!

In the meantime my son decided he wanted to build something so I found a 61 unibody with fairly decent sheet metal but with all the normal floor / cab mount / step rust!!! it will be a good learning experience for him.

Image

A donor truck later we got a front end ( The 62 grille is growing on me!!)

Image

A 2003 crown vic was bought for the suspension and drive train. Hopefully the Mustang will be back this fall so I can get it finished and start on the Trk.
WE have just been collecting parts for it . They are always cheaper if you don't have to have them right now!!!

Here they are both in back keeping each other company ( prior to the donor front end)

Thanks. I have been collecting signs for years back before they became too expensive to get anymore!! I found the 66 back in the early 80's but the guy would not sell it to me. A friend of mine was there when he was moving and bought it. 20 yrs later I got it from him. I have had it about 5 yrs now. One of these days it will get finished. Just collecting parts right now.
I think I might come up to the show on Sat and bring my son with me to look at some trucks and meet some people that like the old slicks

Can do. The chassis is factory F100 4wd 1966 SWB truck (F11 code) . I wanted the discs to make it stop a little better gotten spoiled over the years. They did the coil springs starting in 66 I believe on the f100 only. I just needed a couple of inches clearance in the front fenders so a little cutting / welding and I have a set that the average person would never know were modified. I thought about the big opening fenders but decided to just modify the small ones. Mine will never be perfect original truck just a few changes to make it nicer to cruse in if it ever gets done HA HA.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words; I also glanced at the pic, and thought, ah, later chassis, then looked at the post! The workmanship is first class, the front to front with the uni says it all. The truck will certainly be an attention-getter and conversation-starter if you choose to bring it! One of your area neighbors in Augusta has posted interest in attending; hope you both make it!

The mustang is a 1966 coupe original v8 car with ps / Ac / Automatic / blue with pony interior. I decided to make it a clone GT car with a few upgrades as follows

1989 5.0 HO motor with GT 40 heads / carb to make it look original
AOD 4 spd Automatic
3.50 rear axle gears
wildwood disc brakes
car is dropped about 1-1 1/2" with bielstein Shocks

Hope she doesn't get into too much trouble with it. It is currently being painted hopefully it will be done this fall so I can finish putting it together for her.

Original pony interior car

Motor & drivetrain is done.
