Hello to all,
I have an original 1964 F100 shortbed. I want to have power steering. Is there any way to change my front end components for newer parts to make this happen? Thank you for your help.

Most ford power steering boxes will fit. I put one from a 72 f100 in my 66. But you will have to modify or get a new column

Check the for sale adds here. The was a NEW CPP Power steering system for below cost.
Their build went a different way. The CCP is as close as it comes to a bolt in system.

A 64 and a 66 are different front suspension animals entirely. 64 is straight axle and not a bolt up like the later trucks are for the 65-66 Now you might possibly be able to modify a later model PS box to the 64 it would take a lot of work and probably some engineering knowledge.mbellon wrote:Most ford power steering boxes will fit. This box is the best option I know of for PS in the straight axle trucks.
No kit, or ford box is a drop in for the 61-64 straight axles.
Last I knew CPP didn't officially offer a kit for 61- 64.

I'm beginning to sound like a proponent of these things, but IMO, easiest and cheapest is an electric assist system as found on junkyard Saturns. It still requires modification of of the unitized column/ gearbox, but any system other than a hydraulic slave assist will require those mods.
