If you are running the original alternator and regulator, the "I" terminal of the regulator needs to be powered from the light circuit with a parallel 15 ohm resistor shunting the lamp wiring at the lamp. If your system is an upgrade, let me know what it is and the current wiring configuration.

If you unhook that wire and turn key on , is that reading from wire or regulator terminal?

Kindas a long shot, but check the resistor at the lamp for continuity.

Re: alt. light stays on 65 F100
Paul , as a long shot I tried a old regulator that I had laying around but it didn't charge at all so I looked thru my boxes of saved parts (junk) and found 2 more, first one didn't charge like the last one and the next one worked and the amp light went out. Now the original regulator was new that came off the 78 I parted out. Go figure. Thanks Tom
