Flipped axle shocks
Can anyone make some good shock suggestions for rear flipped axle? The only ones I can really find are the DJM shocks. Or is it a better idea to extend the bracket on the axle and run a stock style?

Re: Flipped axle shocks
If you flip the axle, then you must relocate mounting points to get anything that is even remotely good geometry. Depending on your goals and the room you have to work with, a stock shock may work.
Mine has only about a 3" drop and the shock was more horizontal than vertical. I made relocating brackets which bolt to the axle to get it more like the stock geometry.
Once you have an idea of the ride height, you can look through a shock manufacturers catalog to see if something might work well, or email them, tell them what you have and see if they recommend anything.
You can also make a linkage to convert up-down motion to forward-back motion and have the shocks mounted horizontally. That might give you better options but it will be more complex and expensive.
I'm pretty sure there are companies that build custom shocks. Probably expensive, but might be worth investigating.

Re: Flipped axle shocks
you can buy new lower shock brackets for the rear end housing. it is much easier than trying to cut the old ones off and weld them back on. the circle track guys sell them and maybe summit. i have bought the djm shocks for an axle flip and used them as well. the last 2 i did i used air shocks from summit to get the axle off the bump stop when hitting a bump. if you have a lift it is much easier and you can measure what length shocks you need. the second set was a piece of cake after the learning curve. i can look up a part number from summit if u wish but it would be better if you can measure the full travel down by taking the weight off the axle before measuring for the shock length. the last time was only a couple of weeks ago.

Re: Flipped axle shocks
Place and part numbers to buy both shock, and axle mounts,
would be a great if you recently did them...looking to replace9" rear with an 8.8 on a 61

Re: Flipped axle shocks
summit part # gab 49127 for the air shocks. circle track supply on line is where i bought my lower shock brackets but you may be able to buy them from summit cheaper at the same time and get over the $100- mark for free shipping. the shocks were 75.97 per pair. Currie universal shock mount is what i used. weld on shock mount bracket on 9 inch rearend. CUR-CE-7020. LOOK AT SUMMIT WEBSITE as a different shock mount may be necessary for 8.8.
