Has anyone swapped a 10 1/4 rear end into a slick?
If it cain't be fixed with a sledge hammer it must be an electrical problem!

The swapping the diff shouldn't be that big of a deal, but the fact the when they changed bodystyles in about 98 or 99 (ie: birth of the Superduty's), I believe they also changed the wheel bolt circle, which is the deal breaker.
I know that a Sterling diff from an '01 Superduty has a different bolt circle than the earlier (ie:previous body style) trucks, what I don't know is the exact year the bolt circle changed, so do your homework:)
**and measuring the center to center on the spring pads would be wise as well, not an insurmountable obstacle to knock them off and relocate if the dimension is different, just an added effort to the whole deal....

Metric bolt pattern on the Sterling different spring pad locations.

The 10 1/4 has the same bolt pattern as a slick.
The Sterling 10.5 has metric bolt pattern, disc brakes.

10 1/4 used from eighties through 97.
10.5 used 99 to present.
If it cain't be fixed with a sledge hammer it must be an electrical problem!
