Need a 3 speed floor shifter

Post by Kid »

I need to replace the floor shifter in my 65. It has been wore out since I bought the truck 20 plus years ago. it has been my theft deterrent because if you don't shift it just right it hangs in first gear. I looked online and man has the price went up since I last looked. $260 for the shifter and $170 for the linkages. Why in the heck does it all not come all together anymore. Does anyone have any opinions on what to use. The only ones I found were Hurst at Speedway and Jeegs. I plan on putting a new clutch in it and pressure plate so it will be a bit pricey to do it all .

I had a Hurst, seems it was called Z Gate. It's shift mechanism was set up in a way that normal shifting was just like any other three speed H shift pattern. When shifting 1-2 fast you could make a bee line for 2nd and it would trip the mechanism assisting in a straight line shift. Like a backwards N pattern. It came with everything needed. It cost about $140 in the early 90's when they were a little more popular.

I believe I have a Hurst three speed plus linkage and mounting brackets, I would be willing to trade for a certain set of y block valve covers with turquoise accents I would have to do some digging as all is still packed
