The bed cover got painted and installed. I pulled it out of the garage and took a pic outside.
I finally got the license plates and insurance. I am so glad to finally get the plates after 9 years.

I have the hood hinge kit finished and installed finally. It took a lot of work but it does work and works very well.
This is the hinge at the core support and front fender.
Here is the firewall bracket for the roller on the back of the hood.
Hood closed.
This is where the hood sits before it comes over to front. The gas springs push it up to here and holds it there.
Here is the hood an the full open position.
I am thinking about changing this some to where the hood doesn't come down so far. I think it would look better if if the nose of the hood was higher and the hood sat at an angle instead of straight up and down.

I think your hood looks good sitting in the open position that it is in. It makes for better access to the engine compartment not only for working on but also for viewing. BTW, the more I look at your truck the more detail I see in it.

Doug,
It looks like the guy that rebuilt it forgot to check the valve body. One piston would only move if you forced it and another one was frozen solid. It couldn't even be forced to move. It smoked all the clutches and 1 band in less than 30 miles. It was a total rebuild again. And of course the guy that rebuilt it before has gone out of business, sold his building and is nowhere to be found. The sad part is that my Dad knew this guy.
I guess that this is another one of life's lessons.

The problem is that the truck needs some anti-rejection drugs. I am getting ready to start looking for a 4.6L DOHC motor and trans for it. It will happen but it will probably take a while to find one, get everything ready, rebuilt and then installed in the truck, but it will happen.

I am back doing some things to the truck. I went to put the rear view mirror on and I couldn't see anything but the rear cover. I made an aluminum piece and milled it on an angle so I could change the position of the mirror, then epoxied the 2 pieces together and put it on the windshield. Now I can see out of it properly,
And now here is the best part.
I purchased a complete Lincoln Mark VIII to get the engine and trans out of. It has a 4.6L DOHC engine that produces 280HP coming from the factory. Now I get to start more fun stuff with engine rebuild, trans rebuild and figuring out the wiring harness.
Then the 63 will get remodeled after the engine is ready.

fuel filler
Hi Kevin
looking forward to meeting you and can't wait to see the truck. I love your fuel door setup and was wondering if you are going to be fabbing any more. Would definately be interested. See you next week

Here is where I am now. I have the Mark VIII all parted out and gone. I sold enough parts from it to get my money back from purchasing the car so now the engine and trans are free. I still have seats and some other parts to sell so that will help.
I plan to at least put rings, bearings, heads rebuilt and gaskets in the engine before it goes in the truck. I also will have the trans rebuilt so that it should never have to come out of the truck again.
I have spent many hours sorting out the wiring harness getting it down to the engine management wiring only. This what I started with, the entire harness out of the car. Some of the wiring has already been removed at this point.
This is what it is down to now. The small cluster of wires in front is what I need to make the engine run. Some of this can still go away but I haven't figured out exactly what yet. There are still wires in this that go to the factory gauges and other things that I won't be using, so they will be able to go away. The large sqaure plug in the center plugs into the engine. I cut out all the wires, sorted by length and zip-tied them together so they can be used later for other projects. All of the mess at the back is most of the leftover parts that weren't needed.
I still haven't decided if I am going to use this harness or get one from The Detail Zone. I still think that I can make this harness work but cutting and splicing all the wires to lengthen them is a little troublesome. Making the wires longer doesn't scare me, it is the possibilty of having to trace out any wiring glitches in the furure that really scaes me.
I guess I will make that decision soon.
