Not much work on the 64 this weekend, I had to work on the Jeep yesterday - was badly in need of some maintenance.
I got the paint on the drivers side lower cowl area, it had a crack I welded up last weekend.
I started cleaning up the steering box so I can get it painted and put back in. Still a little ways to go but this is much better than the undefinable dirty/greasy lump with a steering shaft in it that it was before I started.

Picked up my oil pump rebuild kit today.
I finally got the steering box clean enough to paint yesterday, got it painted. I installed it today.
I got the "back" side of the pitman arm painted, I'll paint the other side after I mount it. Touched up some bolts etc. with the rest of the paint in the cup.
Not a ton of progress but I did get something done last couple days.
Need to recharge the camera battery and will get some pics this weekend.
I will one of these days need a Harley break, I have been working on the 64 so much I haven't ridden in 4 weeks.

Went to adjust the steering box yesterday. The shaft the pitman arm mounts on rocks when you turn the wheel back & forth - it's shot. I'll now have to pull the one out of the Uni and start all over with the clean & paint. cuss.gif
I bought a new pair of engine insulators - painted the bare metal portions of them. After all the time I have invested painting things up nice I don't want rusty engine mounts in there.
Today I set the front down on the ground - I got the 250 front axle under the Uni a couple days ago. I spent a good portion of the day getting the rear axles loose so I can swap them - the 46 year old nuts on the U bolts were a challenge. I have some help coming tomorrow to help me move them.
I am leaving the springs that came in each of the trucks. I'll be pulling a few leaves from the 64's packs though. I want to drop it down a little (not as far as the Uni is in the rear now though) and want to soften the ride a little. I'll remove 3-4 leaves but will leave the first 3 in place. The Uni's rear doesn't have enough support - you throw a cooler of beer in it and it's on the bumpstops.
Keeping at it though.

Been tinkering with little stuff all week. Thursday pulled the Dana out of it. Friday removed a few leaves from the springs. Yesterday I got the 9" mounted under it.
So now it's an F 100!
Took a few pics before I put it up on ramps to run the brakes.

I have been at it daily all week. Been getting a few small things done.
MC was installed a couple days ago along with new rear lines and a new flex hose. Yesterday I pulled the front brake lines from the 62 that were made when I did the disc conversion that is on the axle that is now in the 64 and cleaned them up. Today I installed the front lines and tightened up all the joints - brakes are ready to bleed now. I also traded the brake pedals as the one in the 62 was redrilled for the pushrod that came with this MC.
I started pulling the column so I can swap the steering boxes. The column & steering wheel from the 62 was going in the 64 anyway.
Didn't take any pics - doesn't really look any different to speak of.
I am staying at it though.
I hope to have the front clip ready to put on and the steering boxes swapped by Monday.
Then I just need to figure out the engine, tranny and a get a driveshaft to have shortened.
I'll have a few wiring mods to make but that is all that is left to get it driveable.

This weekend I got the Uni movable and the front clip the rest of the way apart and cleaned up and primered the steering column (oh and drank some beer, lol). Also got the garage cleaned back up abit - kind of a reboot thing.
Yesterday all I did was get the column painted. I liked the black column & column drop in the Uni when it got here so I painted it black. Nothing real fancy just a few good coats of rustoleum (didn't take a pic).
Tonight after work I started on the drivers side fender, got it nekid, lol. It had a bend and ding in it at the front of the dog leg - got that fixed - came out nice will only need a touch of fill. The inside still needs a little cleaning before the rust paint goes over it. Still need to finish stripping the edges, I won't use the stripping pads on the grinder for that though - a little too aggressive for the edges. I'll finish the outside with the DA.

Did a bit more during the rest of the week and today.
Got the center of the cab floor cleaned & primered. Got the brakes bled. Got the rest of the core support apart that took abit of creativity with 4 rusted broken speed nuts. Got the semi sized rear step bumper off.
More front clip parts cleaning & prepping tomorrow. Think I'll get the black top coat on the center of the cab floor too.

Today I got the black on the center of the cab floor underneath.
Removed the seat and painted the rest of the inside floor.

Image

I had two seats here;
1) The seat in the 64 that was pretty decent on the bottom - top was literally exploded.
2) The seat from the 62 parts truck I got year before last which had a decent back and was shot on the bottom.
I pulled the hinge pins, painted the bars (it was already apart) and put the 2 halves together. I don't have a seat cover for it so I improvised!

And one shot of the rear without the bumper.

In the pic of the seat that is the back tire on my 09 Harley Night Train.
If you are talking about the Slick - that's the Uni.

Today I picked up a full length Desert Tan Auto Custom Carpets brand carpet for the 64 - $50 still new in the box!
Drug my buddies 302 here (will need a few parts off it) and my roller cam short block, also brought a pair of 90s 5.0 HO heads. The T-5 I have is a bolt in behind this engine so it looks like my 64 is getting a roller cam 302 and a T-5. I'll need a set of pushrods, gaskets, and the bellhousing, clutch etc. and a driveshaft.
I have a pair of stock Mustang shorty headers here, guy I know has a pair of 65-66 Mustang 289 headers hanging on his garage wall and no Mustang - I may see how those fit after I get the engine set in too.
