found this piece of sheet metal that used to be part of a fluorescent light. It has a nice springy quality to it.

What are you using it for? Your new aluminum radiator install?

Nevermind Dan. I looked back at the previous page and looks like you used it in your door surgery.

Radiator install finished with top sheet metal (from the fluorescent light) in place. I am really tempted to take it all apart again and paint everything. While I am at it I need to finish tying the wire harness together. The rubber piece on the bottom of the top mount is a piece I cut out of what looks like a conveyor belt that was in my yard when I moved here.

From the other side. I moved the alternator tensioner slightly so I could run two drive belts. I have had a two belt pulley on there for years, so why not.

Went for a Saturday cruise. My route took me through some residential stuff, then the frontage road, and finally on the highway. The highway is slightly uphill as you go toward the NASA installation. I got in with traffic and cruised at 70 no problem. Still some pinging when decelerating, but nothing like I had before. I drove back and stopped at the gas station down the road from the house. New electric fan finally turned on. Got gas and went home. These are my new observations-

1. it is still a pain not having a clock readily visible

2. radiator cools really really well.

3. The fan is adequate, but sounds like Ben Kenobi chasing off Sand People when it turns on. It is really adequate for cooling and I have the brackets set up so I can run two of them. I may get a second one and wire them in series so that they run at about 6 volts apiece to lower their rotational speed and therefore their noise.

4. I really need to replace all of the leaf spring bushings, and go through the suspension with a fine tooth comb. I can tell the front left shock is bad as well.

5. need to ask around and see if anyone has used a later model pedal type parking brake. On hills the stock p-brake is iffy.
