I have those flat panels that go on the lower door access. Not sure how I want to paint the,. Red or grey or both. Hmmm.

No work done at all in last few days. I need more clear coat, I need more propane for the heater, and I need free to,e. I have company all the way from Thursday thru Sunday and it will probably prevent me from doing any work at all in there. Maybe Sunday evening I can stay up and paint the outer skin of the doors... if I get more clear and propane after work tomorrow.

Stay tuned!

Minor set back today.

I was in the garage after work last night taping the door off in prep to put paint on the outer skin when I was turning the door and the work stand let free below. The door dropped and fell on the forward corner.

Have a small pin hole to putty but I should be able to seal it this morning with epoxy and then get some paint on it this afternoon. I expect it to be okay.

Got the door skins in color and clear coat.

Heavy clear runs on the driver door for some reason. I will sand them out before cut and buff.

I haven't even touched the truck this week. I have been doing a lot of paperwork at work this week and trying to do online required training we have to do every year. I hope to get out there today and this weekend and finish painting my cab door jams and dashboard. I am behind where I want to be.

Don't drink ever again... that's what I need to do. Too much to drink on thanksgiving with my friends and I spent all day Friday hung over. I hate drinking, especially too much! It's never worth it!

Today I spent my day standing in cold water wet sanding the valances and prepping them for sealer.
Image

They are drying now so I can paint tomorrow.

While those were drying, I spent a little time with 1000 grit sand paper and a soft block.

Spent a careful amount of patience around the runs I had in my clear coat.
Image

Need to do the bottom of the door still but I could t stand any longer. My dang feet are frozen so I am putting my schnauzers to work!

Painted the inside of the upper balance black. No one is ever gonna see it though.

The lower rock guard is also painted black underneath it. On the fence about putting Monstaliner under there.

Wet sanding the dash today. It's still cold but I need to be prepping it by now. It's been three weeks since I painted it.

To save myself the heart ache of having more problems when I put it in color, I put the inside of the cab in sealer.

Identified a few spots that need more attention before I can put color on. It was t bad.

So glad I got it in sealer! It's saving me from crying later.

Oh my I don't have time for this shit.

I thought I had the red paint issue licked and I had sanded it all in prep for the sealer. Well, that crap never dried right. I went to sand some today and found the red just peaking off. The grey in this photo is the sealer. The red paint literally just pealed up from the primer with help from a razor

Image

So- I'm am tired of messing with this damn thing. Sanding it all off and starting over

Dash is sanded down, the passenger side is as well. More work needed but I'll get it.

I feel your pain April, a lot of hard work down the drain. Not a lot of fun. Hang in there girl, it will all come together. I am looking forward to seeing it in Kansas City in 2018. Be sure and mark you leave off for Slick Stock.

What are you using for sealer? In my opinion epoxy is the best sealer and metal primer.

Took a break from my truck this past week. My coworker wanted to paint his 91 keep cause it turned pink. Took a weekend but it's done.

Image

I will get back to my truck this week. I put newer tires on th'13 F150 today since I couldn't go thru the winter here in Jersey with my originals. They have 34,000 mikes and less than 6/32 left. I skidded a little in the rain yesterday so it was time.

Great job on the Jeep...I used to make a little extra $$$ painting cars on the side. If they 'prepped' it and paid for the paint, I would shoot it. I hated bodywork, but I love to spray the paint. Still tuned in and watching for updates on the '65....

Great job April. I can't say I hate body work, I learned how to do bodywork just so I could paint more. There was a time I lived to paint. I miss those days. Keep up the good work April.

Jeep looks really nice. I especially like the black grill to offset the red. A buddy I used to work with had one about the same year and issue with oxidized red paint. He was ready to paint it. I talked him into having me buff out with some compound. Hit it with some good wax when I was done and it turned out great. Still is red and that was about 6 months ago. It's outside all the time so I'm curious to see how long it lasts.

I had an 88 YJ just like that , turned pink and we just buffed it back to a shine , common problem with old jeep paint clear coat is crap. I got so tired of the jeep people telling me ' REAL JEEPS HAVE ROUND HEADLIGHTS " the cj folks, but jeep learned also and never put square lights on a jeep body again ! only on the cherokee
