61 f100 Uni, P71 Vic Swap, Twin Turbo 6.0

Post by 61f100uni »

Hey guys, I'm currently working on a 1961 f100. I plan to use the crown vic frame under it. Here is whats been done so far (copied from ford-trucks).

1st picked it up

Then pulled out the 429 that was jimmy rigged in (had a blown headgasket).

Picked up a wrecked 2004 p71 interceptor for crossmember and PI motor set.

Image

figured it would be quicker to figure out the harness now in the car instead of trying to wire it in the truck. Pretty much everything has been cut out, engine runs, also the cop cars dont have a chipped key so thats a bonus!

Yesterday I notched out the cab steps & cross member to fit the frame. Then cut out the bed. Its definitely a bonus to be able to see what MarauderPU did! hope to have it dropped on next weekend. Also have an ez wire interior harness ordered, plan to make the engine harness separate from the chassis.

Neat project!
I noticed that the CV has Flowmasters. That Cop must have been a Hot Rodder too. :o :D

Cut out the rear a bit more and welded up the notched cab cross-member

Rolled the new frame under it and it fit pretty good!

Image

Image

just finishing up front cab mounts, should have the rear mounts done tomorrow and get the truck out of the shop and back into the driveway 8-)

When you cut the bottom 10 inches or so off of the inner splash panels you are going to FREAK out how much they follow the shape of the LTD frame EXACTLY. Its like the two were meant to be put together.

I made some mud flaps that are behind the front wheels from the top of the fender down, that way it can't throw water and mud back on the cab, and frame.

Heck, seems we are all doing it. I've subscribed to the threads from both of you guys - hoping to learn a lot. I won't be starting til fall, but I brought my '04 Marauder home this week. 8)

Take lots of pics, guys!

^ Nice!

front cab mounts welded up, it will be boxed in later. Also built the rear cab brace, will take some better pictures of the mounts later. Just trying to get the mounts done so the truck can come back out of the shop. I'll tidy up everything after.

The track-width seems to fit under the truck well. I had heard the rear of the '03 and up CV may be too wide for the Uni. Apparently not. Nice work!

lol, ya herd that too, but its not the case. Will be running larger wheels, easy 2" clearance with a roll.

yep the red uni on the frame rack was the one I was talking about. The frame under the truck is the original, the box has been converted to a short bed, thats why it looks funny (He has a short bed frame to go under it).

Started on the exhaust, 2 1/2 front, with 3" out the back. I really didnt like the way it sounded so going to change up the rear and build it with smaller pipe.

front H pipe
