Im in the works of getting a c6 transmission rebuilt that came out of a 76 econoline and once that is complete the plan is to swap it over to the straight 6 which im sure i will have plenty of questions along the way esp with parts buying to make it all work.

Ok so this month i will be having the c6 trans out of a late 70s ecoline rebuilt and was wondering what else do i need for the manual to auto conversion? Would it also be possible to keep the steering column i have now, 3 on the tree, and just eliminate the shifter handle from it since it wont be needed? Plan on doing a floor mount shifter...any recommendations?

Thanks... at first i didnt like it but i think im going to leave it, may give it a fresh coat as a touch up and then add red accents that are glossy.

Main focus is the trans conversion

Curious on what the best way is to remove the pcv fitting from the old valve cover? Was going to see if i could reuse it with the new chrome valve cover

I have the Z gate shifter in my 63 and it works fine, just do not put to tight of a bend in the cable when routing it. I am not familiar with the rest of the products someone will correct me if I am wrong but I believe the flex plate is balanced for each engine, 6cyl, 302, 351 etc. so some more research might be needed. The donor van.. was it a 6 cylinder, that might be a better place to start.

Yeag i read up on the z gate and it seems like the best option for the conversion with it being universal.

Yeah i want to make sure i get the right flexplate and starter for this setup. The info i have on the transmission was it came out of a late 70s model econoline van so guess i should see what kind of flexplate they came with.

The trans cooler i feel was a better option than switching out the radiator combo plus saves a few bucks.

Is there a good place to pick up the rear bracket for the parking brake, where the rear cables meet the front cable that goes to the handle? I recently thought i popped the cable at the handle but didnt. The front cable came out of the rear bracket. Looking to replace that bracket since its old. Any pictures of how the cables attach at the bracket? Also my handle is easy to pull but some effort to push back in...any adjustments for this? Thanks
