Donor Crown Vic PI sourced!! Engine Question

Post by beamero »

Obtained a 2008 PI with around 140,000 miles off of government auction. The whole car is in great shape. Would I be able to use the 4.6 engine for fabrication mock up (mounts) in preparation for a new Ford 5.0 Coyote or would it be best to wait until I obtain the final engine and transmission? Plan to keep my original frame, changing out the front and rear suspension. 1962 F100 Flare

Thanks much!

Congrats on your CVPI acquisition. I've been watching that website but nothing has been close enough to get excited about. Don't know about the engine mounts. There is a lot of info about the CV swap out there. The 4.6 is a modular but don't know if they share the motor mounts with the 'Yote. Good luck and keep us updated on your progress! 8)

they do not share the same kind of mounts. had one in my shop the other day. I should have taken some pictures because I am interested in putting one in mine when I get tired of the ls. doesn't look like it would be hard to make mounts though.
