actually, the fuel shut off isn't completely unique...someone had rigged up the same thing in my '61 years ago...I was all of 16 and my first question was "umm...excuse me, but why is there a water spigot under my hood?"
Had a friend back in the late 50s that used a gate valve like that for a heater control valve on a 49 Caddy he owned.
