ok, you are talking about that plug they use.. I wasn't sure what it is called. We found out its the exact same plug as a phone line here.. it just has the locking pin in a different position. We took some phone extensions and just cut the small tab of the male plug. If you do it right the plug will fit fairly snug.. if not you just tape around it. I prefer to solder the wire into the controller, but its a lot of unneeded work.

so all I need is a extension lead, about 14,548 KM long and I can use my own controller and black box!, sound easier than soldering under water! :P

Thanks for the heads up on the plugs Lance, I`ll be trying it out this weekend! :thumright:

Finally got my track set up. Put it in the dining room while Dianne was at church. We spent the next hour and a half racing. She has a bit of a lead thumb and spends a lot of time flying. She's hooked.

Went to Des Moines Sunday and ran one of Lance's friend's tracks for a couple hours. It was a lot of fun but I need more practice, a lot more practice. If you are use to magnets and banking (like me), the non-magnetic MDF track is totally different. Took my 2 COT cars and a Lola. The Lola was very unstable and jumped around a lot, one COT ran noticeably faster than the other (but not with my driving skills, or lack there-of except down the one long straight).

I think everyone will really enjoy this as a side diversion. Lots of laughing.

One hint, don't let Lance pull in behind you with his slick while you are re-fueling. He wanted to be a push truck so bad he pushed me out of the pit area with less than half a tank of fuel. The little slick is pretty cool.

Looking forward to this, it will be fun.

I keep telling you, as long as you hold that refuel button in I can push you all the way around the track and you will still be fueling up ! hahahahahah

As soon as you touch the throttle though its no more gas !

I don't have the complicated race system on my big oval the CJ had this Sunday.. But I doubt anyone will care .. My biggest worry is the Hotel telling us to keep the laughter down !

So Lance.
Will any of the digital cars work?
And do the 1/24 cars have bigger motors or something?
I ask because the Sports Racing Cars I like are quite small for their scale so may be close to the 1/32 full size cars.
Or does the scale reference the chassis size only and not the scale of the body?
I have been all over the sites and there aren't really answers to these questions.
One of the places where I buy my car models has a pretty good size routed track.

Greg, it has to be Carrera digital by what Lance has been saying, the 1/24th scale thing he will have to answer, I will have a Aussie Falcon to race but not sure which one yet, maybe last years Bathurst 1000 winner,,, 8)

Greg, this is how I understand it:

The 1/24th scale stuff will run size wise, but it takes more power so on a 1/32nd setup it won't allow as many cars to run and the speeds would be reduced.

Other brands can be used on a Carrera track ONLY if Carrera optics/chip are put in it. You can't run other brands of cars on a Carrera track that I have found anywhere.

Look at Carrera Digital 1/32 on line and there are several to choose from. You can also get other brand 1/32 ans put a Carrera chip in them.

Lance is racing today, he will probably be on here later to correct me!

I think you have it Spark

The 1/24 pull big amounts of current limit cars..

The Carrera Digital 132 are turn key..unfortunately the COT stock cars are no longer in production. thats the best CARRERA car out of the box.

Other brands can be converted it is by NO MEANS a snap of the finger. it depends car to car.
With everything rising in price the chips to convert other brands is now nearly 30 bucks for just the chip...
Also I might add if a guy has his own Carrera digital controller it might be good to bring it.

Thanks Guys.
I will find a Carrera Digital car I like.
I guess if I get a home track it will have to that too so I can run the car I get.

Anything that looks like a classic muscle car will run poorly... usually..
However if there are a bunch of poor running cars they could run together. We run different classes at my friends....
I have mounted some classic cars on the carrera COT chassis with good result.. can be major work though.

hahaha, maybe not that bad Alan ! but cutting and grinding the old chassis, and the Carrera chassis so they just fit together, is pretty close work.

I just mention this so we don't have 20 guys show up that need 3 hours work on each of their cars ! hahahha
