easy repair for horn ring contact tube

I figured out that the sleeve out of a 3/8 inch compression union will fit inside the horn ring contact tube, if you ream it out a bit first. Mine was broken off and the contact wasn't staying pointed up and down and was grounding out on the steering wheel. Be sure to knock it in far enough that it does not ground out on the steering wheel.

Good idea on that. This is also on my 'to do list' {seems like it never quits}, and finally install my horn ring and related parts instead of using the washer fluid button for my temporary horn.

If someone else does this, post and let us know how it worked for you.

I have bought 3 new contacts thru lmc, for my 64 truck and I still can't seem to get it to work.... Every time I install the steering the wheel it appears to bend the spring and when I turn the wheel it will sound the horn when it wants too. I finally gave up and put a horn button below my dash. But maybe I will give this a try now.. Good Idea thanks

I got a turn signal setup from them with the horn contact in it. I put a washer on the screw next to the contact tube with the edge bent in such a way that it keeps the tube pointing the right way. It would fold inward and do what you are describing. I will have to take the steering wheel off but I can show you what I am talking about.
