Removing headlight switch knob?

Post by leftfootbraker »

I need to pull the headlight switch out of my '63.
I know there is a button on the bottom of the switch that must be pressed in order to remove the knob & shaft.

I've tried lots of shaft posistions to try to get it to release but to no avail - except for a sore thumb.

Do you know the "secret" to getting the knob & shaft in the correct position for button to release it?

Thanks for any help on this frustrating situation

Sometimes you have to find an intermediate position for it to release. If you push too hard you just trap the shaft with the pressure. Sometimes it takes the magic words @#!*
