hey iceman, i think it is a build number or model (maybe tranny) specific deal.
i have been lucky enough to have owned or been a part of five 61s.

my sons three on the tree step, and my three tree uni, have a different, plastic switch mounted from the left with the lever screwed direct to the switch.

my longbed born as a four speed on the floor, and my first slick, short bed uni with a floor mounted four speed, both had the metal plate with with the lever, and the switch mounted on the right.

my latest is also a three-tree but have not had a chance to remove the steering wheel

if you come up with an extra spring/washer/clip, let me know, my longie came w/out and that is what lets the detent work thanks

Will the collar pictured mount on a column shift column? I haven't used the column shifter since I've had the track. That will clean it up a bit. I know where there are some 4 speed slicks that may have what I need.

You should be able to use an "E" clip available at most parts/hardware stores. Looking at this I think possibly a W/W pivot clip might work?
