Satin or gloss under the hood?

Satin or gloss under the hood?

Post by F-Zilla »

I've started cleaning up and priming under hood small parts suches as latches, brackets, hinges etc. I'm blasting the crud and corrosion off for a smooth surface. What is the consensis on black under the hood, satin or gloss? I'm leaning towards satin. I initially started in Gloss on my Galaxie but switched to satin cause I thought it looked cleaner.

I use Krylon semi gloss, or is it semi flat. Anyway it seems to look best IMO.

Semi gloss is my vote even though you didn't make it as an option. Semi gives you both of what you can't decide on lol. Seriously though, gloss will show every scratch and detail, flat will show more dull spots in certain areas (sometimes) and Semi will have both and be a good in between.
That's just my oppinion though.

I used Rustoleum satin black on a 70 F100 I did a couple years ago, easy to touch up and helps hide flaws and dirt a little better I think.
