motormount is confused

i liv in a town close to baton rouge louisiana. i have herd that every thing east of the mississippi was the eastern united states and every thing west of the mississippi was the west and every thing north of northren tennesse was the north and every thing south of there is the south.now they call the states along the gulf coast states.so now were is the south at. im confused i used to live in the south eastern united states, but after i filld out those papers for the gulf coast cruse and car show, i found out i liv in the gulf coast part of america.
