New Slick Owner with a '62 UNI

I'm 22 and I'm brand new to the Slick scene. Mine is a '62 UNI with a 390V8 motor, and has a lift kit and 4 wheel drive mods. I was wanting to know if anyone had any suggestions as far as what to watch for in these particular models.

Any tips and advice on mechanical, cosmetic, and maintenence would be much appreciated And I will answer any questions.

I live in Northwestern Ohio around Lima area. Not a bad place, but I will credit it for my love of these trucks (and my grandfather and father)

I helped both work on various cars and tractors and even rebuild a 1929 Ford Model A. (dad's project) The body's and the mods that can be made are limitless and I plan on owning more in the future and various other classic Fords.

My newest project will be 3-point seat belts installed. After I give the truck the once-over inspection.

Would anyone possibly know of any speciality areas of the truck that I should especially check/use high scrutiny while assessing the truck? Ex. Common areas of rust, window seals, truck bed care and maintenence, etc. If so that would be awesome so I can make this truck my own and have it for as long as possible.

normal place for rust are torque box, cab supports/floor supports, floor sections. and i've noticed that a couple i've seen rust on the pillar at the bottom. right below the of the bottom door hinge on the cab.

Welcome from across the River in Huntington WV 62 uni 4x4. Mine is a '66 lwb 3/4 ton 4x4.(not original) Glad to see someone close to home. check the front of the bed and under the gas tank. Seems to get alot of talk about that area?

Sure would like to see a pic. one was for sale here in town about 4 or 5 months ago.... [albumimg]5722[/albumimg] He told me he wanted 10000 for it so I left it at that. (k-5 chassis with ford running gear.) I beleive it had a 302 in it. look forward to the pics.....

One thing I would check out is the brakes. Those have the old single pot master cylinder which is ok, but an upgrade to a dual M/C is so easy to do, and gives you peace of mind in case you ever lose a wheel cylinder. At least you will still have some brakes. An early mustang unit should bolt up, just check for rod length. There are some others on here that have done this little mod so they can chime in on it, too. Just make sure it is a drum/drum M/C. TR

No issues with the red or the blue, there used to be another member here who was selling a lifted short Uni 4x4 with a 390 in it. I had to wonder if you had his old truck.

welcome from alabama. i have a 62 unibody i just got this summer. it's my first classic ford. my first ford since a 84 ranger i had in 94.
