Interior step question.

Why do some trucks have the step in the cab floor. My 65 F100 does not have the step. However, I have seen pictures of others that do.

when ford redesigned the trucks for twin i beam in 65 they also changed the cab floor and mounting area.
steps are on 61-64 all, 65 and 66 f250 4x4 and f350 and up.
1966 F250 4x4
