My 61 Uni says hi!

Post by ken bogren »

I've been reading here for a few weeks now so I thought I'd register and say hi!

I also want to say thanks for the all the info members have posted on this site.

My 61 shortbox unibody has been parking in my garage for about 4 years now. It's pretty much the way I bought for myself as a Christmas present in 2005.

The only thing I've changed are the wheels, tires and hubcaps. It had some rusty wire wheels that really needed to go.

I use it as a daily driver in the warm weather months (more like minutes here in MN) in rotation with my 63 Falcon convertible.

Now there's a lesson in contrasts. The Falcon has a 170 - inline 6, the uni has a 460. Needless to say the falcon is really over powered. I really need to swap that 170 for a 144 so I can get the full thrill of trying to make it through an intersection in one change of the lights.

The uni makes it through the intersection a bit quicker. :)

(Hopefully I've got the pic of the unibody loaded up as an avatar)

Welcome from the Portland, Oregon area. Nice looking Uni.
I have driven 170 powered Falcons and 460 powered Slicks. Never have been ticketed in a 460 slick.

Which begs the question. Have you been ticketed in a 170 powered Falcon? What was the offense, impeding the flow of traffic? Sorry, couldn't help myself.

The answer is YES!
A long time ago (1969-1970) I had a '63 Falcon convertible. 170 powered, factory four speed with bucket seats and a console. We are talking some serious stuff here!
I was ticketed for street racing, though the cop writing the ticket did say it wasn't much of a race. Cost me a $35.00 fine and a Saturday in Traffic School.
The other car was a hopped up Volkswagen. I was ahead by half a car when we were pulled over.
