Bumper question for unibody guys

Post by Comet »

This is probably the same for all slicks, but just want to make sure comparing apples to apples here. I finally got my bumper back on after tucking it in a bit and lowering it a little to give the overall appearance of a lower nose. So, my question to you guys is, I have no idea how much I took it in. I am curious about that. So, could someone measure for me? What is the distance between the bottom of your grill directly under the middle of the headlight to the edge of the bumper? See pic for reference (disregard the painted grill and rusted fender. Both will be replaced :D )
Thanks!

Mark I'd do it for ya in a flash, but my uni's bumper is actually bent slightly on the drivers side , out and in on the passenger's side. I need the info as much as you do!

Ok, thanks Satin. We now have two peeps waiting! LOL
JC, mine was the same as your actually. Which is the main reason I did what I did. There is a wrinkle in the pass. side frame rail right at the firewall. Didn't feel like paying someone to pull it out so I just tucked the other side in! Sounds a little ghetto, but unless you follow the frame rail and find the wrinkle, you'd never know it was hit.

I wish I saw this thread last night at home, I would have measured my '65 gaps for ya...assuming they're the same as uni's. :?: I'll do it tonight, if nobody else has posted up first. :)

Bumper Question

Post by F-100XL »

Comet,
I checked the XL tonight and it was 2 3/4 inches on both sides . It only has 2,900 miles on it , so I reckin thats what it was from the " fackatory ".

Thanx Bill and unibodylady :thumright:
That will come in handy when I wrap a chain around it and the telephone pole in my old man's alley we use to straighten bumpers 8)

I had a nice straight 61-63 bumper that came on my '64, that I took to the metal recyclers before I had a 63. Wish I hadn't done that. :D
