:welcome: From Michigan. Depending on how much abuse you put to it with the 428 normal driving it will live BUT if you make use of all that power the wrong way. Ka Boom

I think that there were two choices for divorced transfer cases Np205 and Dana 24. Both are about as strong as anything ever built The 24 has straight cut gears and whines in low range. The 205 is easier to get parts for and is generally the desirable choice. But who knows what is hiding under your cab!

Welcome from the Portland, Oregon area.
I have run 429-460 combinations in front of 205 transfer cases, both married and divorced, since 1977 and never had a problem. I don't "off-road" but I do use my trucks.

you are far more likely to break a u joint in the drive or axle shafts than break the t case in a gear driven case.

chain drives i dont mess with after i broke a chain one time.

Be careful, If it has the original Dana 60 rearend then it will have 16 spline axle shafts. Not the strongest. If its 100% original then it will have a course spline pinion too, once again kinda weak. :D

If you have a dana 44 rear and 520 hp, then you will have issues. Id put the Dana 60 back in there with 35 spline axles. Larger tires + driving it like you stole it + dana 44= KABOOOOOMMMM
Cheers,
