GEAR RATIO HELP

Post by Chefsonfire »

O.k... going to run a 300/6 with the mild performance of a clifford intake and exhaust, comp cam and a 4 barrel carb. Trans is a mid 70's floor shifter three speed with overdrive.. I been getting different opinions from people...what do you guys think? Any ideas on a good ratio for the rear end? I want something to handle highway/ daily driver miles. Not sure of tires to run either...more concerned about ratios at the moment..( always easier to change tires..no?)

I did a lot of research while doing my T19 swap, http://www.fordtruk.com/forums/viewtopi ... hlight=t19 here is a chart for the 80's overdrive. You probably already have 3.70's which would be fine with the overdrive.

Ratios RPM 65 MPH in top gear

3.55 2256
3.73 2370
