Bambi season countdown

Post by 66fordtrucknut »

A week til' bambi bow season, I fired up the deer feeder for those little Sika critters I chase. Put up a new stand for whitetails, jumped up 5 doing that. Hopefully it'll be a good year. It's the most wonderful time of the year!

Good Luck Charlie! I see quite a few of them there Sika deer on Assateque. Thinkin they might frown on hunting there tho!

Was at Gander Mountain in Salisbury on Tuesday and noticed the Whitetail season posted ----2 buck and 10 doe----wow , thats a bag limit.

Hey , Ice , ours are called Sika without the "T", They were imported from Japan early in the 1900's and now thrive in our Marshes. They are alot smaller than a Sitka.

No Luck :-( .... First timme in many year our group did not get a buck on the first two days.. BUT we had a great time.. Still have the rest of the week so maybe.. We saw a very nice 8pt yesterday, so hopefully one of us can get him..

Cograts Charlie on your deer.. A 6pt. Sika is not real common, correct?? Mostly 4pts?

We see alot of spikes, they are spikes for at least 2 1/2 yrs. we're thinking the one I got was 5 yrs. old. Been seeing some real nice deer at the butcher. They've really whacking them down here.

Well, the PA buck season is now over. I passed up a handful of buck that didn't meet my size requirements. Took a doe for meat.

How about the rest of you?

Haven't heard from the York gang about their exploits.

Last day of our rifle season was yesterday, went Sika hunting, went to the same spot I shot my sixer, I had 8 come out of the marsh 50 yds. to my left. Like a mule train 3 does, 5 stags the last 3 looked to be 6 ptrs, I heard a splash to my left, 50 yds, to the left was the biggest stag I've seen, followed by the 2nd biggest stag I've ever see followed by a spike. We're only allowed one 1 stag per season (weapon). Definitely the best morning I've ever had down there. Don't know how much self control it took to not squeeze on that one. I did put the crosshairs on it and said to myself "bang"< I know it doesn't count. Muzzle loader opens back up this weekend for 2 weeks........you know where I'll be.
