Been really at the truck these past couple weeks and I have gotten alot done. Worked out all the bugs with the 460, switched out the u-joints and put on the correct yoke and also shortened my driveshaft, I put on a full exhaust system with cherry bombs, got the transmission working and put on a cooler with lines, installed seatbelts , and i am working on the lights right now. Here are some updated pics.

I also just put a oil pressure gauge on my 460 and so far I am worried about the engine. On first start up I get around 40 psi of oil pressure. I let it run and it slowly goes down until it gets to around 5 psi. I was hoping somebody could help me with this.

main bearings in my maverick made it start out at around 28 and end up around 3 by the time I got to work.. :dontknow: but I am sure there are other reasons...

man i am really hoping that is not it, but that is what i am thinking it might be. The oil becomes a problem when it gets warm but cold its fine. I am hoping i don't have to pull the engine and have to tear through it to fix the problem. Well if anyone has any ideas on this I would like to hear them. thanks

What is your confidence in the gauge?
Start with an oil change some oil brands break down a lot faster than they should and the viscosity drops way off. If the engine has run hot a few times this can definitely be the problem.

hey thanks for the replies. I just changed the oil it was a shell brand 10w-40 oil i put in just last week. I don't know if it was any good but it was on the sale rack so i put it in there for now. I will change it again soon and probably try a 20w-50. When i put the 460 in the truck i converted the oil pan sump which called for a new oil pump and pickup, so that can't be it. I just bought the oil pump gauge too from autozone, one of those sunpro gauges. It looks right because once you start there is a steady stream of oil flowing to it then once it warms up you can see air pockets in it and not a good stream of oil going to it.

Try using Valvoline oil. I have found that it maintains pressure REAL well.

I just hooked up my tach today and let the truck get warm again and see what the pressure was. I know there is a 10psi per 1000 rpm rule and once my truck got warm it was right at that. I held it at 1000 rpm and it was at 10psi then went to 1500 and went to 15 psi then went to 2000 rpm and went to 20 psi. I don't know if this is good or not but it seems kinda low. Thanks for the info so far.
