1960 4X4 Speedometer Cable Replacement

Hi all,

During my truck's restoration I noticed the speedometer cable is twisted off. My 1962 4X4 drivetrain's speedo cable is attached to the transfer case which makes it super-long. I see Mac's sells a universal cable kit that is 70" long. This is still a little short. Do any of you guys have a source for longer internal cables? If need be, for whatever reason, I can replace both the outer jacket and inner cable but inner cable only is preferred.

Napa or a good parts store should be able to get you a 120" long core.

Any speedometer service shops in your neighborhood? Most can build whatever you need. The last custom built cable I had made ran about $40.00.

I called my local Bumper To Bumper car parts store and found that they have both 84" and 120" cables in stock. The 120 inch cable was a whole $9.00! It comes with a little tool to crimp the end on after you cut it to length.

I wrote down the speedo core kit info in case anyone needed it.

I had to cut off about 10" to make it the correct size.
On a side note, I even cut twice and the first one I bought still ended up being too short... Must have been one of those days... Good thing they're only 9 bucks. Haha.
