Super Shop

Post by Gritsngumbo »

It will probably never happen, but a couple of friends and I are negotiating with the owner to lease this old Midas muffler shop for a "hobby" shop for the three of us and our car/truck addictions.

Each of us would have one of the bays, which are probably 30'X40'. Can easily get four vehicles in each bay. Lots of room to remove cabs etc.
All the air lines are still there, with lots of drops. All you would have to do is hook up a compressor. The lifts are gone, but the bolts are sill in the floor.
I said negotiating. Actually we are trying to talk him into renting it to us...cheap. And he hasn''t nodded his head yes, yet. He's built a modular Bar-B-Q restaurant in on the side facing the main street. This building is at a right angle to the main street and a street behind it. He needs the parking in front of the shop during lunch. Only a mile from my house so it would be a nice setup for all. Probably only happen when pigs fly(insert Bar-B-Q joke here), but one can only hope and keep trying. Wouldn't that be sweet?

Been looking for something similiar.

But I do not have car friends that I would trust to pay thier share of the rent on time. I would end up stuck with the full amount after they bailed.

So I just have to fantasize about building a 3 car with a second story for my car/brewery/bar/man cave.

It will be a reality someday (when my house is paid down, or I win the lottery)

Buddies of mine in the town I grew up have rented a similar place for over 30 years. They have loved the space and the married ones there wives really like it. The cars and grease stay away from home. :D
I hope you all get it. It would be a great meeting place for area slick owners in the area.

Plus, there's a nice sized waiting room for a "club house" and a studio apartment upstairs.

Might be better to describe the upstairs as extra storage space...
As my dad used to say, somewhere there was a horse that died a painful death from terminal constipation due to missing a key part of its anatomy.

Good idea for the others. My wife was the one first who told me about it. She said the Midas shop owner's daughter lived up there when she was in college.
