Thanks Brian,
I got some more of the frame painted with POR yesterday after work. It's a PITA so I am trying do just do a "section" every day.

Got some new power tools!
Bucket and a toilet brush from the dollar store, lol.
The power unit behind the "new power tools" is one fat old biker and some degreaser, a cigarette, and beer, lol.
Add 3 hours of scrubbing and we are ready for tomorrows painting session (after it dries overnight).
Some fasteners and brackets that are ready for paint after a little sanding.
I am hoping to start some reassembly next weekend (if my bushings show up). Then we start cleaning up sheet metal.

Greg!, get some sun on those legs mate! and some thong`s ( on your feet!)
one question, are they stock engine mounts?

Honey, If I say I`ll fix something I will, there`s no need to remind me every 6 months!!

I hate thongs, lol. I do wear one of my pairs of sandals to work though. I can't be showing off my feet on the site - they look worse than yours, lol.
The jury is out on the engine mounts Alan, somebody said ancient Transdapt they could also be home made. From looking at them closely I say they were made for something else and then adapted to the truck. They take stock insulators though which is good - I'll need new ones.

Would an engine tube get in the way of the axle?, if not I`d be going down that route while everything is out!, IMO

I don't know a lot about engine swap mounts Alan. I have seen 1 or 2 trucks with a tube crossmember mount and they seem to clear the axle fine. I have to add though one of those trucks had no engine and I don't know what the mount was designed for.

As hard as it is on my bad shoulders & bad back Michelle, I do love working on them.
I still have the center of the cab floor between the rails and some of the inside of the frame rails to do to the back of the cab outside of the rails is mostly done (I won't paint back past the cab til I get the frame shortened).
Got some paint on the frame today. Also got the passenger inside lower cowl painted (drivers side was done a few weeks ago). At least now I can start reassembling the frame, hang the other axle & springs and run brake lines, etc.
Ooo, shiney!

It quit raining and dried up so back at it outside too (I was working on small parts inside).
Got 4 of the inspection covers painted (I'll have to find where I put the other one, lol).
Installed the 2 that go under the fenders so it quits raing into my truck - yep stainless screws.
The bell housing had 1/4 + inches of crud on it. Cleaned it up with oven cleaner and hauled it to the car wash to pressure wash it so I could keep things clean here.
Some body couldn't decide if it should be yellow or red, lol. I'll paint it black after the T-5 mods are done to it.
Just a short break here - back at it.

Harbor Freight puts them on sale fairly often. 1. 6" and 1. 1" each of plastic, brass, and stainless steel bristles. They are pretty good little brushes especially when you get them for like $3 or $4 for all 6.

dirty work
Looks like you have been having fun getting down and dirty with the Slick parts, Greg. It is 10 pm saturday night and I am down in Texas at Chris's house in the shop helping him with the crew. We are mixing up the blue to spray and then we'll be done for the night.
Tomorrow we will spray the clear coat and I'll be on the way home. So far it is looking pretty good. Are those your monoleafs on the truck? TR

Yea Gary, I pulled the whole axle, disc brake, monoleaf assembly from the Uni as a unit and bolted it in the 64.

Well we have rain off & on and thunderstorms rolling in & out at "Greg's Olde Towne Hot Rod Shop" (part of Bellevue is referred to as Olde Towne).
I decided to clean the engine - hey it's going to get wet when I rinse it off anyway right?
First coat of oven cleaner;
After some soaking, scrubbing with some degreaser and my trusty toilet brush add a second coating of "High Tech Degreaser" (more oven cleaner).
Now we have a Y block that is clean enough to tear down for some new gaskets, oil pump, bearings, and maybe some new rings.
I am a little undecided on the rings though;
It runs good, doesn't smoke. If I hone the cylinders and put in new rings I will take some material off the cylinder walls obviously. I am thinking if it doesn't smoke then why would I want to make the pistons looser? Hmm

Gary, if you were bald with one ear rignt we could call you Mr.Clean. If the Y block looks as good as the bell housing when cleaned, it will be clean enough to eat off of. Looking good fellow Slicker.
