Some of what's been done:
Found some cheap wheels, and painted them to the basic look I wanted. Blacked out all the vertical grille bars, picked up some 56 Pontiac headlight bezels, EZ Wire kit, and some odds and ends in Carlisle and Pittsburgh/Butler swap meets. still under $3k total so far.
Any suggestions are welcome.
What I plan to do:
I'm considering following the hip line around the cab for the black/blue break and painting the sides of the box black between the stake pockets while leaving the fender, step, and bedrails blue.
I'd like to slide the front bumper in about 2" for a tighter fit, and sink in some fog lights. I also have the rear farm bumper, which I will probably hack off the nubs that stick out on the endsto make it flat across the back, and sink some tail lights into it. Possibly a couple or three sequential chevrons per side.
I do have one question:
The wheels are 8.5 x 15. Does anyone have an idea about what a good tire size to run would be? Thanks for any help.
p.s. To some people's shagrin, that magazine on the hood is not a filthy, filthy, foo foo magazine. I am lucky enough to have an understanding girlfriend who hangs out while I stumble blindly through this project, and occasionally lends a hand. She just doesn;t like picking up after herself, and I'm also to lazy to move it for the picture. Thanks for looking!
