Parents don't bring their kids up that way anymore. "It's all about me" seems to be the attitude these days, when what the kids need is a kick in the behind.ICEMAN6166 wrote: whatever happened to the customer being right?

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive body, but to skid in sideways - body worn out and screaming: Woo Hoo, what a ride!"

Anymore I just try and find the part # on the Autozone or napa websights and bring them with me. Several years ago I about went over the counter on a kid about plastiguage. I had bought some from the older morning crew about a week before but the after school bunch were haveing a good laff about plastic strips to measure bearings with.
Asking about Studebaker parts was allways " interesting" also

Im actually fortunate here in this little town. We have carquest, autozone and advance auto. I refuse to go to autozone, but as for carquest and advance, I know both of the managers and they both work on their own hotrods, they are real car guys. If they dont have the part that i need or want, they let me know where i can go to get them. So anyway what we have is corporate stores with home town attitudes.

Autozone is by far the worst parts house
There is one store a couple of miles from me ,been in three times ,it had no customers and no employees up front, could have walked out with half the store how do they stay in bussiness
After afew min.s left and have'nt been back since. Try buying something for a ratrod 27 T body 53 Ford flattie, 48 front, 41 rear and so on
There's a carquest 15 miles north in Cleveland ,Tx. now this is a parts house
These guys know everthing from old cars&trucks to tractors and big trucks ,you may have to order it ,but at least you get the right part and its usually cheaper in price
T/D New Caney,Tx. I'm30 miles north of Houston,Tx.

Autozone is bad where I'm at, but Pep boys is the worst. I called around looking for a replacement rear license plate lamp w/bulb. I had a generic step bumper on a 70 F100 and needed this for my annual inspection. Everywhere I called needed to order it, except PEPboys had it in stock when I called. So I drive 15 minutes to get there and couldn't find it. I asked some young guy working there and he said they didn't carry parts for something that old. I told him you did half an hour ago when I called. He said whoever I talked to didn't know what they were talking about. Luckily the manager heard all this, it was him I'd spoke to on the phone. He showed me where they were (there was about 6 of them). As I was making my way towards the counter I could see someone was getting a little talk.
I usually go to NAPA or Advanced. Then maybe Autozone, then Pep boys as a last resort.
