an apology is in order

Post by Nick64Slick »

Yesterday I posted a link to my zazzle page where I created some shirts and things based on this site's name. I did not contact anyone because honestly I didn't know there was anyone to contact. That probably sounds nieve but although I've been here a while I didn't know who was in charge. I also just thought the name was something everyone used since I see it all over, but I guess that is just a tribute to this sites reach across the internet, etc. I thought it was like calling a VW a Bug, which is why I didn't think twice about using it.

Thank you to those who ordered, I really appreciate it, especially right now, and again, my apologies to everyone. I was just proud of my designs and super excited to share them with everyone. I saw that people were always looking for shirts on ebay, etc. and thought I could help out. I'm a member of this community first and was in no way looking to take advantage of anyone, I just thought it was going to be win/win.

I'm not sure where this leaves me, but I will respectfully do what the managers of the site decide, even if that means taking everything down.

Thanks, and again I am sorry if I came off the wrong way, that was in no way my intention.

i did not see the link, maybe it is gone now?

my opinion on this is that if you want to sell shirts with the name slick60s on them it must be cleared with the management

perhaps you can work something out where you sell shirts to members
it always seems there is some issue with club shirts and if the same person was making all the shirts on a regular basis it would be possible to order them anytime. i do not believe any of the shirts have created a big profit for the club or the makers so far either.

i also think shirts with the name slick 60s should only be offered to members and their familys.

Thanks Iceman, I agree. Yupp, the t-shirt business is in no way a get rich quick scheme.... especially using Zazzle, but whether it be through me or not, it is a good way to offer club items for sale because as you said, its available all the time.

I think my post was removed, and i understand. Hopefully we can work something out, but I have no hard feelings, I'm just a bit bummed out because I was really excited about my designs and I feel stupid for not going about this the right way.

If I am able to continue, I'd have no problem just offering them to members and their family.

There was a real cool shirt made by the originator of this club (Foodstick)

it was a grey print on a black T shirt of a uni. Nicest shirt I have ever seen of the Slick 60s. I wish they would bring it back.
It's a race.. Will hell freeze over or will JC finish his truck first. Stay tuned..

If I don't get permission to keep selling, I may just turn over my designs to managment and they can use them if they want. I spent some time on them and am really proud of one in particular that I really think people will dig. I'd just be excited to see people enjoying it.

shirt post is in the members only forum.

John, the shirt you are talking about is about the coolest one we ever made. It has been so hard to get shirts sold that it isnt cost efective to have them made since we don't have foodstick doing the printing.

My personal opinion is if a t-shirt is available to the public, site awareness may increase. I don't see that as a bad thing. I'm not sure how the logistics of profit should be handled. I tell many old Ford owners of the site, only one has joined so far. Should I be paying someone for spreading the word? on the other hand, I'm not profiting from telling others about the group.

I don't think you did anything wrong...it isn't like we talk about Slick60's being something that belongs to the group all the time.

I think you are doing the right thing.

I think that if you do it for little to no profit...it's fine with me.
