Speakers

Post by Blackwaterforge »

Mounted new speaker under dash in original location. Sound quality is really bad. Speaker is mounted securely but dash rattles. Where are you fellows mounting speakers? There are speakers designed to mount under seats. Dose anyone have experience with mounting speakers in this location?
Thank You!
If it cain't be fixed with a sledge hammer it must be an electrical problem!

When I installed my stereo in 1980 I put the speakers in the door access panels. Sound quality was good. Although, now that I don't really listen to the radio I'm going to remove the stereo system.

Hope this helps a little :D

Thanks for the reply.
I have the zipper door pockets so I don't want to mount speakers in door.

I plan on buying a couple door panels off Ebay and cutting holes for speakers , keeping my original panels tucked away.

the PO of my truck screwed them to the bar that runs across the top of the cab, right over the headliner. it didn't look too bad and he used light speakers so they didn't sag the bar. I took the radio out and the speakers, i rather just listen to the wind and exhaust

here are mine BWF... I made my own headliner but used the old one for the template, so, you should be able to mount them in the same location in a stock headliner as well....

Never had much luck with door mounts. They have to be water proof then you got door vibration unless you don't like bass.

I got these old pioneer's beside my seat...

My 429 truck has the tank removed from the cab so I plan on fabbing some speakers in the cab corners but I got a feeling that truck is going to be so loud it won't matter where the speakers are. 8)

Hey those pioneer speakers are an excellent idea. What did you pull them from or are they off the shelf items?

Now that I think about it I don't remember where I got them. They had to been in another truck I had.
Google pioneer surface mount speakers.

Here is what I had in the doors. Used some 1/4in plywood instead of cutting the panels.

Do you by any chance have any pics? I'm trying to figure out what I'm going to do with my stereo and like the under seat idea... just not sure about clearance.

I have 6X9s in the access panels and two 3 1/2 inch in the original location, there used to be things made to keep the water off the speakers when installled in the doors but cant seem to find them now. A gut at work can convert original radios to be a remote for a hidden modern stereo and wish he would of thought of it a few years ago when I cut my dash,he made me one for my 55 sunliner but my 66 is just a any way.work truck
