1966 F-250 4x4 and steering wheel question

Post by Oldman »

I have a 1966 F-250 4x4 highboy with a steering wheel that makes my hnads black when I drive. Is there a way to recoat the steering wheel; painting it (will it rub off?) I watched a couple of videos on hot to fix the wheel where there are cracks but I can't find anything on repainting or resurfacing the wheel. Is it possilbe to powder coat the wheel? Thanks

painting it is the best way to go, almost 10 years mine has not come off . unless you can find one of the rare white 4 spoke wheels.

What kind of paint should I use? I have gone to several body shops, auto stores who sell paint and everyone has given me different answers?

Same here on the rustoleum and if you can clean it with TSP. TSP is great for cleaning plastics and vinyl giving you a good clean painting surface.

The Hammerite paints are also known for making a very hard shell.
Use some Scotch Bright to get down to fresher plastic so the stuff has a chance to stick.
