Sway Bars
Will sway bars from a 76 Ford pickup work on a 66?
Thank You!
Thank You!
If it cain't be fixed with a sledge hammer it must be an electrical problem!
Re: Sway Bars
Yes. I have one from a 76 F250 on my 66 F100.Blackwaterforge wrote:Will sway bars from a 76 Ford pickup work on a 66?

Yes and no, fronts work but as mentioned you may need the radius bars. The rears for an F100/F150 will not as the later trucks have a wider frame. The rear F250 bars MAY work if they are from an F250 4X4 or CrewCab but if it is a regular F250 they won't work because they also have a wider frame. F350 rear will work. Hawkrod

NOTE: The sway bar is installed upside down in these pics. Please scroll down for the proper installation. These pics still show the correct notch & pin in the radius rod & bracket. Sorry for the confusion!racerx1699 wrote:Does anyone have pictures of a sway bar installed on a 66?
Thanks
Here are some pics of my 66 F100....as stated above, the swaybar is from a 76 F250.

I also used the radius rods from the donor truck because they are notched for the pins in the mounting brackets. If you look closely you can see the pins & notches.

Is it me or doesn't that sway bar look like it should be flipped over. The angle at the end links seems to be off---causing the bushings to be compressed oddly. Flipping it looks like the bar would be flatter at the ends. I dont have a twin I-beam but was just looking.

LOL! Well, how stupid am I???? LOL! I'll flip that around and it'll probably work better......guess I should have taken pics of the donor truck.MadMaxetc wrote:The bar should be fliped from that picture.
As for the pins on the brackets, I don't think cutting them off would be a good idea. It would probably allow a lot of movement of the bracket and defeat the purpose of the sway bar. But then, of course, that's coming from the guy who apparently put his sway bar on upside down so do what you want...

Wasn't trying to say anything bad Randy..............just an observation. Post some pics when you flip it, and besides it should work better and be tighter in the corners.
My seeing it was due to me putting an aftermarket (63 Impala) bar on the front of my Uni and having to make and adjust the brackets and the mounting. And good use of urethane ---thats the way to go

No worries, I didn't take it bad at all. I just felt kinda stupid that I hadn't noticed it when I put it on a YEAR ago!! LOL! I flipped it over this morning and will post new pics in a few minutes. Thanks for pointing it out.Fanatic wrote:Wasn't trying to say anything bad Randy..............just an observation.
