I have never heard of the 351M called a midland???? is this correct??? and yes, I seen the eye candy, but was more interested in the trucks description... call me old I guess... and I have never heard of the topper/cap being called a canopy?? Is this Canadian talk JC??? just was curious to what they were calling things... I have heard a 351W being a Windsor but have never heard the M being called anything...curious minds want to know....

and I think the truck looks well worth the asking price.... couldn't touch it around here for that.....

There is no such thing as an M400 or a 400M. There is a 351M because there is a 351C and a 351W so Ford had to ID them but the 400 was just a 400. All the Ford literature says 351M/400 engine family! Also, the M meaning is not well defined and Ford has never stepped up to answer the question. It is simply a term that meant something to the original engineers but they failed to share that info! Selfish b@st@rds! LOL Hawkrod

When I lived in NJ, there were called "caps".
Here in FL they're usually "toppers".

I agree, I have seen this also. When the 351 was first installed in pickups in 1977, the engine became known as the 351M because it was modified for truck service.

I call those things toppers... the thing on the back of the truck that is...

I have never heard of an engine called a "Midland". Remember people from Seatlle are an breed unto themselves. That's where most of the Serial Killers come from.

I always thought it was Modified into a POS (and not just for trucks) from the once-cool Cleveland. At least the Aussies got to reap the benefits.. that's where they sent the Cleveland tooling.

We have a city in Michigan called Midland , couple hours North of Detroit where Dow Chemical is located. Saginaw , Bay City and Midland were big auto plant / parts towns for GM back in the day.
