Any Slicksters in the San Antonio area?

Hey Guys,

You know that old Paul Simon tune that goes; "For reasons that I cannot explain, some part of me wants to see Graceland."?

Well, for reasons that I cannot explain, some part of me has always wanted to see the Alamo. So, my wife, my oldest daughter and her husband are going to make that wish come true. We'll all be in San Antonio, Texas next Tuesday thru Saturday. I'm REALLY looking forward to it! Well, except for the flying there part. It's a long story, but I was on a very scary flight several years ago for my work and now I don't fly (well, unless it's to the Alamo and I'm heavily sedated).

Remember the Alamo!

Sinc.
The Alamo is a sacred place, as you will see when you enter the building. It kinds of overwhelms you when you think about those two hundred and thirty five men holding off 5000 Mexican soldiers for all those days. Especially when you look at the original drawings that show what the place looked like at the time.

I know a very good sedative. 15 Miller High Lifes will work real well. Just watch out for ditches and bushes. Don't forget to hang on to your hat and glasses. Other than that all should go well.
Have a safe trip and enjoy it.

If you get a chance to meet up with Skip, I recommend it. He's an alright guy.

You are a lucky one Bill. I have been to San Antonia several times but was never able to stop there. Heck I even drove past the exit for the Alamo a few times but had to keep rolling.
The whole area there is cool - have a great time.

Help me out here guys..........Its been years since they let me in Texas.........Fort Sam Houston was a COOL place , also.

Sinc, it has been a long time since we have seen each other, but it is good to see you post.
It is hard to add to what US said, but it is true. The Alamo is a most reverent place, especially to those who know the history. The Battle of San Jacinto was the answer to the massacre at the Alamo, by the way, just 6 weeks later.
Very interesting history surrounds these events, that tie into our country's own War for American Independence, and my own people's (unsuccessful) war for Southern Independence.
San Antone is beautiful this time of year. Be sure to visit the Riverwalk, your "kids" will enjoy the boat ride through the center of town, especially at night.
Temperatures are cool, mid '70s to lower '80s this time of year. It gets much cooler at night, though.

Have a great time, and salute the Alamo for me.

isn't there a latino market down town too? i remember onyx and stone chess sets reasonably cheap there and a good selection of pepper sauces too.

One of my relatives(Benjamin Rush Milam) died in the retaking of San Antonio...there is a park named for him in S.A called Milam park. Just a bit of my family history.
