When the movie was originally released in 74, Alan and I went to the premier. The Mustang was there in the lobby of the theatre. Looking the car over close you could see that it had a skid plate from the front of the car to the rear of the transmission. Even with the skid plate, it is pretty amazing that the same car that started out was the same car that finished in the end of the movie. That was a lot of punishment for one car to absorb. We knew the disc jockey in the movie that was reporting live from KFOX in Long Beach. It was his car that was stolen from the studio parking lot. The DJ's name was Hal McClain, he was using his real name in the movie. Hal was later killed in an accident at an Air Show. He held the worlds record for the most out side loops in an air craft. He was trying to break his own record when he was killed in a crash at Kerville Texas in 1981.

Its a dang shame the remake of Gone in 60 secinds couldn't have been more like the first.. I don't see how the second movie with its lame plot was supposed to be better than a movie full of great driving ...

Your absolutely right, the remake was as phony as a three dollar bill. What's so unbelievable was the first was made on a shoe string with no real actors. The second was a high budget with a bunch of top notch actors and was not near the movie.

I saw the original first run in the theatre when it came out too. I have no memory for movie names (or any other names) and when
I saw the second movie, it never fizzed on me it was supposed to be a remake of the other movie, since they are in no way similar.

I saw the original movie again many years later and thought... Hmmm I wonder why they called that new movie the same name, still not relating the two. How on earth does a yellow '73 mustang become a gaudy '67 Shelby?What has that got to do with all these Porsches, Lamborghini's and Ferraris?

The new movie Eleanors are so overdone and -here come the flames- ugly that I was shocked when Carroll Shelby actually let them call them a continuation series. Normally I am a fan of Chip Foose's work, but he must have had one nasty brain fart the day he designed that gawd-awful Eleanor.

I was amazed at how many younger friends, or their kids liked it..

I can tell you a funny story concerning GONE IN SIXTY SECONDS..the original ....

One day my Dad says load up the car we are going to a movie..So we drive to one of the theatres, and what is showing? GONE IN SIXTY SECONDS...I begged and pleaded to go see it... My Mom and Dad wouldn't listen no matter how hard I tried. Instead we went to a (DOCUMENTARY) explaining how ALIENS had built the pyramids !

I will never forget it...

Michelle and Fergo, I couldn`t agree more!, before that movie, I hadn`t seen a car with a Harelip!, no offence ment to those with that affliction.

I'm a huge car chase movie fan, always have been. I've sponged up as much trivia as I could about the original GISS. Halicki was quite a character. Self-made millionaire with an ego the size of California. He had an explosive temper, yet could be the most loyal friend if he liked you. Personality aside, his accomplishment of making the ultimate car chase movie on a thin budget of his own money is unsurpassed. The guy lived the American dream.
