Finally got my bench seat back in...

It's been a little under a year (since buckets were installed) but the bucket seats are finally gone. Nothing wrong with bucket seats but I didn't like sitting straight up just to give me leg room. I got the vinly from http://www.f100.com and seat foam from http://www.RochfordSupply.com. Only had one major problem installing the whole thing and that was I put the bottom part on the back then had to take it off. I knew something was when it went so easy. Now I got to get rid of the blue seat belts and find some red ones. I thought I would share..

seat looks great! I cant wait to have mine finished, my friend should have the material done in another month or so, at latest will be end of spring

What kind of seat belts did you use? I was curious how you mounted the retractor piece on the cab wall. Seat looks great, better than some I've had done by pros.

Thanks everyone. I bought all the supplies and put it together my self It was actually very easy and I only spent less than $200 to do it. Saws off works very well when cutting foam especially if you have some one pulling the extra off while cutting.

MadMaxetc - I am still looking for a frame so I can start my Dakota swap I can't wait either.. But I sure it may be a bit before I can start my swap. Also I am still working on my EFI setup for the truck. Hopefully at pate I will get lucky and find a good cheap donor truck for the frame.

jakdad - I hate to say it but the belts came out of a wrecked GM truck my uncle had. They were free so I don't feel so bad. To mount them I just drilled a hole in the uper area and used a nut and bolt setup. I figured that it was better than nothing and should work. I can take some pics when I get home and post for you. Not having a head liner in helped with the install.

eliminator46 - I was hoping no one would see all the kid junk I had in the back. Was suppose to have a garage sale at my moms Saturday but it was called off due to cold temps. So hopefully we will have it this Saturday. Either way truck will be empted because I need the room for pate at the end of the month.

What year GM did those seat belts come out of? I'd like to do that mod myself. Anything special with getting the retractors located & mounted? What about the shoulder mount?

Here are some pics of the upper mounts for the seat belts. Really easy to mount. Yea I know ones higher than the other. Don't know why I did it that way oh well It fits the driver. I think these came out of a early 80 to mid 80's GM truck...

Slick Fan - You don't need pre formed foam. The back part tucks under the spring area and the bottom I just cut off a small corner and the vinyl did the rest. see pics below..

The end just tucks under then vinly goes on top and keeps it in place. I think I shortened this pice by an 1inch or so..

This was the corner I cut off from the front edge that's all it needed.

why is the pass. shoulder strap mounted so much lower than the driver?

But more importantly, When I put in 3 point belts, I made 1/8 backing plates. Butted them between the door frame and the window frame. I think a lot stronger than just the sheetmetal... It may look strong now... but you won't be happy after a wreck though, when the bolt pulls thru the thin sheetmetal...

If that's all you had to trim off, I guess the seat cover shape helps squish the foam into shape more than I was assuming it would. Maybe I'll give it a try one day then, on one of my seats.

slick fan if this means anything this was my first seat to ever take a part and put back together. It is really easy I was very surpised. good luck on your seat it does make a world of difference.
