New ford commercial,
Tom,
Iwas wondering if anybody had seen that commercial, because it was done right here in Georgetown,Del.The plane was owned by Melvin Joseph ,a Big construction contractor from Georgetown. From what I have heard, they totaled 23 uni`s , before they got one to land and roll straight and stop. They had a fairly long ad on television in either 61 or 62,advertising Ford builds Tough Trucks . I think that this is where Ford came out with that slogan. The ad that they ran onTV showed a truck rolling out of the back of the plane, about 20 feet off the ground, bouncing 3 or 4 times, as high as the top of a truck, and then settling down on the runway and stopping. There was nobody in the truck and you could see that the steering wheel was tied with a rope to both doors of the truck. Also ,in the ad,the left headlight assembly , popped out and was hanging by the light wire. They left that in the ad.
Bill.

This is the 1st time I seen the black/white commercial but then went to colored ad to show that two-tone then went to showing the new Ford's all in the same commercial.. It's amazing that they kept footage all these years of that truck coming out of the airplane, proably took they some time to dig that up in teh archives,, How is the F-100 XL coming along, had a customer come by the shop 2 days ago talking about Garbz on buying a motor awhile ago then started talking about the F-100 XL Seeing all the articles & talking to David about it since he has several uni-body's finished & building another one, he was from Ohio anyway nice to hear about where the original footage was filmed out for those truck commercials Thanks for the info
